What’s in the Chetco Zip Line Kit?

  • Chetco Cable Trolley (MBS of 10,000lbs). The Chetco trolley is constructed from high carbon powder-coated steel in an awesome shade of blue.
  • The Chetco is equipped with a built-in handlebar and high speed, double ball-bearing wheels for a smooth, fast ride.
  • 1/4" galvanized aircraft cable in 50ft, 75ft 100ft, 150ft or 200ft (7000lb breaking strength) provides superior strength and weather resistance.
  • Hardware: turnbuckle, cable sling, and cable clamps

Requirements for the Chetco Zip Line Kit

  • A clear runway between two trees or poles.
  • An end-to-end drop of 6%.  For example, a 50' zip line would drop about 3', a 100' zip line would drop about 6'. (3' per 100' if no brake utilized)
  • When properly installed, this zip line is rated for loads up to 350lbs.
  • The Chetco Zip Line Kit is intended for private use only. For commercial applications, contact us about upgrading to a commercial-grade version.
  • We recommend a mechanical tensioning kit or something similar to ensure the proper installation of your Chetco Zip Line Kit. Order a Douglas Tensioning Kit with your Chetco Zip Line Kit, return it after installation and we'll give you a 100% refund

  • Great kit!

I bought this kit for my two kids and couldn't be happier. The instructions were pretty simple to use and the installation didn't take very long. I'd recommend this zip line to anyone who has kids with extra energy! A++

  • Review of Viper Kit

    Steven 09/30/2013

I only had a 60ft span between my trees so I ordered over the phone and got a shorter cable and added a carabiner for about the same price as the regular kit. I'm fairly handy (e.g. I can build a fence) and I put up the zip line by myself in a day. I wish I'd had a helper because it wasn't easy to hold the line tight and tighten the clamps at the same time, especially when I had an old car tire strung on one end. The turnbuckle takes up a surprising amount of slack so I probably worked too hard. I set it up according to the very clear instructions and then fiddled with the anchor heights and tension until I had a suitable run with gravity brake for a 6 year old. Good fun.

  • Kids Love it, but parents love it more

Gave this kit to our kids for Christmas and boy were they excited, they opened the box and I then had the reality check of installation. There is a nice card in the box with a phone number, I called and they quickly picked up, answered all my questions, gave me advice and then I proceeded. The instructions make it simple and it was hooked up in no time. The one challenging part, is pulling the cord long enough. I ordered the 150ft kit and the line is very heavy. If you have a lawn mowing tractor, we used that to pull the line tight and finish off installation. It is very easy, kids are loving it and parents are sometimes riding, but always having fun watching their kids. I strongly suggest one if you have the space and trees.

  • Very Helpful

I did a fair bit of research and toyed with the idea of going to the hardware store and doing it myself. After I called and talk to these guys, I decided it was much more important to be sure it was done right and to have some installation expertise available if I needed it. While it may have cost few bucks more than cobbling together myself, I'm very happy I chose this route. Equipment is good quality, advice was dead on, installation was easy (I did it with two able bodied assistants aged 10 and 6) and I feel much safer that I have a quality product vs a homemade frankenzip. I'd highly recommend.

  • Just one flaw

The zip line itself is excellent and of high quality. My line goes over a pond, so you have to drop off into the water before you would otherwise hit a pole extending from the dock. The problem is that the trolley flips over when unmanned, and then doesn't slide down the cable to where it can be retrieved. I will have to design a weigh of some sort that will return the device to an upright position so it will slide down the cable on its own. My cheap old plastic trolley would return to a upright position without a weight.

to Marvin I am having the same problem mine goes over the tank and some times I cant get it back even with a weight on the bottom of it. Sometimes it wraps as many as 5 times I don't know what to do, Mine is when the kids drop off over the pond.

  • Very satisfied

Bought the basic Viper kit and it is great. Arrived ahead of schedule. First impressed with package-much like how Apple packages an iPhone. Shows attention to detail. The product itself seems is very well made. It's for the grandkids use, so that makes me feel good. Instructions were simple and it all went together just fine, though it is definitely a 2-person job and required some muscle. It works as well as it looks and the kids love it. I really could not be more pleased. I love to see quality and this company delivers it on all fronts.

  • Great product

Great product; very sturdy and looks like it will be very durable. The installation instructions were great--easy to understand and easy to install. Went up quickly, just like the instructions said it would. We are very pleased with this product.

  • Blast! Blast! Blast!!!

Purchased this kit a few years ago. I installed the zip line from 2 huge trees in my backyard. My 2 daughters 7 & 9, plus ALL of their friends have hours of fun on it. I definitely recommend this product to anyone. Just make sure you take the time to install it properly.

  • Great Product. Great Company

    Jason 12/15/2014

Purchased this kit. I have a massive black walnut in my yard that the pre-swagged cable wouldn't fit around. Called up Zipline gear, they told me to measure it and sent out a new length of cable. The customer service was fantastic.

I recommend getting the tensioning kit and boa brake, which both work like a charm. With the tensioning kit, it was a one man job. The boa brake lets you get some speed, which makes for a more fun ride and decelerates you easily.

After I found the right location, made the calculations for the start and end height, I had it up and running in an afternoon. I am a long time rock climber and can say their gear is bomber; the quality is outstanding. Also, the knowledge base from the website and their youtube videos made it very easy to understand. I have a 30' high ridge across my yard that is the starting point and the end point was at the bottom, so I had to make the calculations for elevation; their video tutorial on youtube was perfect.

I bought the 150' kit and my 4 and 7 year old kids love it; so do the adults when we have people over. It was so easy and fun, I am thinking of putting in a 500' zipline. I can't say enough good things about their products and service.

  • Impressive Company.

Just a quick note to let you know that I received my zipline kit on Friday and I installed it Saturday. It was so easy! I was very impressed by the packaging, the overall quality of the kit, and the crystal clear instructions. I was easily able to calculate the proper slope and sag based on your suggestions.

The ONLY thing that didn't work out as planned was that the cable that goes around the tree was about 3" too short for the tree I used as my anchor. I ended up cutting a small length of cable to form a small loop and clamped it together with clamps I had to run out and buy.

After that small setback, I got it up and running, and my 5 and 7 year old boys are in love with this thing. You have a very impressive company, and I will certainly recommend you to whoever shows interest.
